Air Transportation (from USA)

• Stay over night at Caracas:  at this time I recommend near the airport Hotel Eurobuilding Express (4 Stars) Double Room with breakfast US$ 149 plus tax or Hotel Hidalgo (1 Star) DBL Room US$ 60,  Both hotels include transfers IN and OUT with my driver.  I can arrange reservations and payments for you. If you decide to stay in Caracas (35 min.)  a taxi will cost between US$25 and US$ 30 one way.  By late arrivals (22:00 hours and up) you might find it up to US$50 one way.! Your flight tickets do not include Airport Departure Taxes in Venezuela;  A.D.Tax from Margarita US$ 25 p.p. and from Caracas US$ 42 p.p.
• Beware of Luggage Porters at Caracas’ International Airport; someone will approach you in English to offer you luggage service and walk you to Domestic Flights Terminal and ask you then for US$ 20 for him and another US$ 20 for the luggage porter.!!! – This service should be US$ 5 for two luggage pieces; make sure you tell the gentleman who offers you the service NOT TO WALK WITH YOU. The Domestic Terminal is next to the International Arrivals Bldg. Walking distance some 300 yards.

Transportation on the Island
 

• Taxis (Cabs) - There are many taxi lines on the island; take the ones   painted in white with yellow license platte. Most taxi lines have fix rates and usually inexpensive priced.
• Buses - Not to be compared with what you leave back at home. Very old models, most of the times. If you want to mix with natives, this is an opportunity. Time schedule are not fix. Usually you most wave at them to bring them to stop. Really inexpensive. Ask the driver for rates. Pay as you leave.
• Ferry: to Puerto la Cruz (mainland) - I only recommend the "Carmen Ernestina" or in case should be changed in future, then any express ferry will do;  the rest of them will NOT be on my list... Also during Carnaval, Eastern, Summer Vacation, X-mas & New Years there is a ferry departing Caracas. (6 hours ride)
