Dunes Resort

The resort's Grand opening was held back in the early '90 but the new section ( area II) was opened a year ago.
It is 35 min from the airport and 45 min from Porlamar. Located in the north coastline of Margarita Island, it has a spanish colonial arquitecture design and the the lodge area has two Sections: Area  I  &  II.

Colonial houses 2-3 floors, 204 rooms
- 116 STD Rooms, 72 Jr. Suites, 16 Sr. Suites.

AREA II  (NEW)
Colonial buildings 3 floors, 78 rooms.
- 54 STD Rooms, 24 Sr. Suites.

• Suites, one-bedroom and two-bedroom unit (master bedroom in AREA II with king-size bed) partial kitchens, living room.

COMMENTS:

The resort was recently taken by a spanish hotel management group:  "BARCELO".  Not that it really needs it, but improvements are expected. Miss Suzanne Nalsen (asist. manager) and Mr. Victor Hoyos (guest service chief) are part of the staff,  highly recommended. This resort is a lively one (colorfull too...); in my opinion
this one belongs to my favorites. There is a private restaurant down by the beach "kelly's"; try at your own expense the huge fresh lobster.  I hear very good comments on this one.
When on the Beach:  you might find the sea a little rough with undertow; my advice is to move a little towards the right side of the beach, as you will find it more calm.
